Gus Lawson
Strategy and Change Management Consultant and Networking Coach
Gus has helped organizations across the federal and local government develop and implement strategic plans, understand stakeholder perspectives, and transform their organization. He enjoys working with leaders to help them gain commitment to accomplish what is important to them. This can include enhancing personal effectiveness, team performance, and organization mission accomplishment.
Gus has coached participants of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration’s leadership development program. He helped leaders resolve conflicts, gain control of their schedule, and strengthen their confidence and interpersonal skills.
Gus knows firsthand how to build networking muscles. After finding himself unemployed and deciding whether to launch his own business or find fulltime employment, he recognized his network was in sad shape. He discovered how to gain comfort with in person networking and has developed an approach to reframe beliefs about networking, combine career planning and networking tactics, and take simple repeatable steps to strengthen and expand their network.
Gus is a proud U.S. Navy veteran where he led the operations of the propulsion plant and auxiliary engineering equipment for a conventionally-powered aircraft carrier. He received the Navy Commendation Medal and was ranked third of 43 lieutenants for his technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
He stays connected with the military community by volunteering time to provide pro-bono coaching for transitioning Service members and Veterans and offering networking workshops for USO Pathfinder Program and Hiring Our Heroes.
