I am writing to share my thoughts and appreciation for the Merzad process. Your passion for change management and supporting our organizational culture changes have been inspiring! I am not sure if my peers across the division shared with you the perception of consultants seeking to assist us. Consultants have been engaged in the past and they have not been as effective in galvanizing the behavioral adjustments needed to truly move a culture forward. Your method is so different because it is built on transparency, trust, and partnership and I have been personally impacted by Merzad’s approach.
My approach to different personal and work situations has changed tremendously. I now go into conversations without assumptions and seeking to understand diverse perspectives. The Strength Finders assessment was eye-opening and revealed the gaps I had in overusing my strengths and recognizing my triggers. My intuition and sensitivity to other’s needs was reactivated due to Merzad’s guidance. I am less defensive, more open to listening for understanding rather than listening to respond, and willing to understand our goals are the same but our business partners may get there in very different ways. As a member of the guiding team, I have advocated using Merzad to my peers and explained how this experience is different from other consultant experiences. It has revealed how critical it is to be able to confront professionally and be open to feedback, which is so hard, but so very necessary! I recognize change is hard, but anything worth having is not easy and I look forward to the challenges knowing my peers across the division are of one accord.
I sincerely hope our executive leadership agrees to expand the Merzad method to the entire organization. The spirit of collaboration and ownership should be evangelized across our business. Allowing all of our business partners to benefit from Merzad will ultimately benefit the participant and employer experience. We are so interconnected and Merzad has demonstrated how a few behavioral changes can be life changing. The division feels like a different place and I believe we owe that to Merzad.
